Splitting divides your PDF into multiple separate files based on your criteria (page ranges, every N pages). Extracting removes specific pages and creates a single new PDF containing only those selected pages. Use split when you want multiple output files, and extract when you want one file with specific pages.
Yes! Our "By Range" option lets you specify start and end pages to create a new PDF from any continuous section of your document. You can create multiple ranges by repeating the process with different page numbers.
When you split or extract pages, the resulting PDFs will contain the content but may not retain all original bookmarks and annotations depending on the structure of the source document. The core content and formatting are always preserved.
There is no hard file size limit since all processing happens in your browser. However, very large PDFs (over 100MB) may take longer to process and could affect browser performance. For best results, we recommend files under 50MB.
Password-protected PDFs cannot be split using this tool. You'll need to remove the password protection first using our "Protect PDF" tool to unlock the file, then return here to split it.
Your original file remains completely unchanged. All operations create new PDF files without modifying the source. Your files are never uploaded to any server – everything happens securely in your browser.
Yes! Use the "Every N Pages" option and enter "1" to split your PDF into individual single-page files. Each page will be saved as a separate PDF document, perfect for distributing specific pages.
